GOLF CHANNEL PRODUCTION

Showcasing work I have produced throughout my time as a Production Assistant Intern at NBC Sports working for the Golf Channel. I helped produce content for shows including Golf Today, Golf Central (Pregame and Postgame), and Live From. I also assisted in projects for various golf-related events and tournaments including Drive, Chip & Putt, the PGA Merchandise Show, Golf Channel’s 30th Anniversary, Tiger 2000 (celebrating 25 years since Tiger Woods’ iconic 2000 season), and more. I also took content and adapted it into podcasts (Golf Today Podcast), YouTube clips, and Peacock segments. Below are some highlights of my work throughout my time at the company.

Golf Today

WM PHOENIX OPEN

This energetic bump for the WM Phoenix Open was played throughout Golf Today and Golf Central coverage to help promote the upcoming event. This tournament is known for its amped-up sports fans, so this bump aims to put that energy into perspective! Just in time for the Superbowl LIX!

THE GOLF COMMUNITY

Golf Today often likes to highlight moments that impact and reflect the entire golf community. The level of snow in January 2025 left many golf courses covered in snow, giving a perspective that many may not have seen before. Segments like this highlight social media conversations and further engage the golf community.

PREVIOUS EVENTS

Showing top moments from previous events are especially important throughout production in order to remind the audiences of iconic shots and emotional wins. Exemplified here are some iconic winning moments from 2024!

Golf Central

PRESS CONFERENCES

Press conferences and interviews are a huge aspect of the Golf Channel. One of my main jobs as a production assistant is to watch through pressers and highlight important questions and answers that viewers would find insightful, engaging, and entertaining.

PLAYER INTERACTIONS

The Golf Channel highlights various golfers by showcasing them and their interactions beyond just golf. This segment showed a unique conversation regarding fatherhood from Rickie Fowler to Justin Thomas.

COMING UP

“Coming Up” portions of Golf Central occur at the beginning of the show, preparing audiences for what’s to come and hooking them in to keep watching. Using exciting content with engaging visuals is crucial to success.

IN MEMORIAM

An important aspect of the Golf Channel is honoring those who are no longer with us. This segment honoring Payne Stewart leads into an exclusive interview we had with Stewart’s caddie, Mike Hicks. This segment helps keep Stewart’s iconic legacy alive.

PLAYER ANALYSES

Another important aspect of highlighting clips from a player’s past is to be able to analyze and comment on aspects of their play like technique, course position, or weather conditions. Being able to look back and discuss past plays gives viewers more insight into what to look for in the future.

FLASHBACKS

Flashbacks highlight important moments from previous events for the host(s) to discuss and analyze. This specific flashback of Rasmus Højgaard shows audiences a moment they might have missed, but left an important impact on his overall play.

Tiger 2000

TIGER WOODS FEATURES

2025 marks the 25th anniversary of Tiger Woods’ iconic 2000 season, and what better place to celebrate it than on the Golf Channel? Tiger 2000 involves plenty of unique content, highlights, and features throughout the 2025 year. I had the privilege of assisting production of three Tiger 2000 bumps. Exemplified is my personal favorite featuring Carson Daly.

software used!

  • Used to organize and shot list content for production segments. Worked with producers and directors to fit content into their overall vision and length.

  • Used Media Asset Management (MAM) to catalog and organize content, along with gathering and combining clips from broadcasts to create new segments. Also used for watching live feeds, including press conferences, to gather select content as it happens.

  • Worked with dedicated editors to take gathered content and edit it for television. Observed and learned from editors as they would add transitions, adjust audio levels, and input graphics into videos I’ve pieced together.
